Thanksgiving Day is an annual national holiday in the United States and Canada celebrating the harvest and other blessings of the past year. Food is a major part of the Thanksgiving tradition and it varies from household to household, with different cuisines being involved such as mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and of course, turkey. A survey was created that asked 108 WCHS students, what is on your Thanksgiving table?

The poll provides an interesting glimpse into the traditions that accompany Thanksgiving traditions. Leading the pack of the most popular foods that are on Thanksgiving tables, is none other than turkey with 87 votes. Following closely behind, we find the creamy mashed potatoes, which secured a robust count of 78 votes. Ham, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, stuffing, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, apple pie, and pecan pie also contribute to the mass variety of Thanksgiving foods.

However, the beauty of Thanksgiving lies in its diversity. While turkey and mashed potatoes may hold sway as the traditional favorites, the poll also highlights the incredible amount of dishes that appear on the Thanksgiving table. Many culturally diverse dishes include African cuisines, which are known for its variety of spices in meals like jollof rice, ranging to foods such as Mole and tamales which can be seen in Mexican meals. Unique meals are usually not served during Thanksgiving include whipped cream red vines, scalloped potatoes, garlic bread, Rrussian salad,

and barbecue.

In conclusion, there are many diverse cuisines that families enjoy eating during Thanksgiving. There is no set in stone meal that is mandatory to eat during Thanksgiving, many cultural foods around the world can be consumed. For more articles like this, follow The Expedition.
