Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was released worldwide on December 7th, 2018 by Masahiro Sakurai of the video game company Nintendo. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is one of the best games ever because you can play it with friends and family, achieve milestones, and do Online Play.
What is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a crossover game made by Bandai Namco Studios and Sora LTD and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. This game is the fifth installment of the series, still following the game’s traditional style of gameplay where players can pick from over 86 playable characters. A paid DLC provides an additional 12 fighters, from Piranha Plant to Sora. This game has all your favorite franchises such as Mario, Animal Crossing, Pokémon, The Legend Of Zelda and more. Almost Every Nintendo franchise character is playable from Mr. Game & Watch to Sora.
To win, you have to launch the opposing character off the screen. You can grab, jump and shield in this game and charge up an attack in any direction. But every character’s attacks are unique to their respective characters, making some characters have strong advantages.
One reason why Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the best game is because it's fun to play with friends or family. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a fun fighting game to play because it's always fun to beat the person you're playing against. “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate delivers the ultimate family fun experience! Especially if you’ve never fought them before or if they're better than you, when you win a game, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate rewards you with a good feeling of glory you can never get bored of, it's such a good way to bring family and friends together. Nicholas Aw-yang, 9th grade, said, “I think Super Smash Bros. is a good game because it connects people and you get to play with friends. It's a game that a lot of people like, so most of your friends would like it. It builds friendships, there is a lot you can do in the game, and it
gives you a lot of options.”
In addition, Milestones are fun and challenging to get every single one and infuse the game with a sense of progression. Nothing screams 100% completion of the game more than Milestones. Milestones are achievements in the game that can be recorded and looked at in the vault. The game never tells you how many milestones there are, however, so far 141 Milestones have been discovered. According to gamesfaqs.com, A new Milestone was last recorded on the 13.0.0 update of the game. This only makes you want to discover more and be the first to find a new one.
Additionally, If you don’t have anyone who wants to play this amazing game with you, you can partake in Online Play. Online Play lets you battle other players all over the world with a rule preset of your choice. Once you have that setup, you will be able to battle other players with that same preset. Global Smash Power (GSP) is a ranking system in the game, your GSP can increase or decrease depending on if you win or lose. For example, if your GSP is 9 million, then that means that you are better than 9 million players all over the world. This feature is especially good for players who are competitive and want to challenge themselves more.
Many Westlake students also believe that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the best game, For example, Hunter McMillian, 9th grade, stated, “The reason why Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the best game is because, one, it has a lot of cool characters to play as, two, there are actually some cool arenas and the DLCs are fun in my opinion and when it comes to that, I think that why it is the best game.”
Alex Bradley, 9th grade, stated, "well for starters, it's got a ton of crossovers, such as [characters] from old Games, [characters] from New games, It's got Mario, it’s got little Mac, it's got all of those great characters., Personally, all the characters are great and it’s a perfect match up of characters, I think Super Smash Bros. [Ultimate] is the best game."
