On September 19th, Ms. Stamas and her astronomy class attended an exciting field trip to watch a show at the Sacramento State Planetarium. Planetariums are domed theaters that project images of countless spectacular objects we find in our universe through realistic simulations of different cosmic phenomenons. Although the showing was entertaining, it also provided an extent of education for astronomy related sciences. According to Fateen Kanz, a student of the astronomy class, “I didn’t know there were planets and suns of such size in our universe.”

The hour-long show consisted of a view of different constellations in our starry sky, countless planets and objects in our vast universe as well as their surprising sizes, and a movie of different colorful phonemons in space. Kay Ramos, who is also a student of the astronomy class, reflected on her experience. “I had a great time watching the show and learning more about our universe, and I felt like I was actually in space.” The field trip lasted from around 9:00 a.m. to 11:30.a.m, including about forty minutes of driving via bus. Although this field trip was shorter than usual, the students made the most of it and had an exciting experience.
