In today’s article, I will be interviewing Mr. Schoenberg, the 11th grade Special Education teacher. I chose to interview Mr. Schoenberg because Mr. Schoenberg is a very good person, and I wanted to learn more about him. I conducted the interview in Journalism class on Monday, Sep. 25, 2023.

E.A. : What made you want to become a teacher?

Mr. S : I had worked with kids in a bereavement group, where the kids had lost their siblings from trauma, disease, or anything of that nature. To then also work with them, and helped them to process/make a difference in their life, felt very important and very fulfilling. To then also working with people in general to help them through tough times was very exciting, and very important for me to teach them.

E.A. : What is a valuable life lesson that you’ve learned that you would want to pass on to others?

Mr. S : Asking for help, whether it’s something academically or something that's just in your life, and you’re just having to ask for help, it could be scary for some people but, it is still makinga make a difference in your life. It is a very good idea to ask for helpask help from anyone.

E.A. : What’s something that you’re really proud of accomplishing in your life?

Mr. Shoenberg: There are quite a few things that I am proud of accomplishing, or I’am accomplishing. Being a father, although I’ve always loved to be a Father, I never knew how much I would have loved it. Also earning my masters degree, which was a lot of work, and also being a musician, which is my favorite thing to do.

E.A. : What was your favorite memory/proudest moment from teaching?

Mr. S : I had my first student who just graduated, and I remember a time when he thought to himself that he wouldn't be able to get through high school. I remember myself telling him that vulnerability of asking for help, so he started asking for help, and he started to work even harder, and he was then able to get through high school.

E.A. : What do you dislike/like about teaching?

Mr. S : What I like about teaching is interacting with other students, and also helping around the classrooms. What I dislike about teaching is sometimes when there's a lot of paperwork, that can sometimes stop me from helping students around the school. Which is why I also would rather be with students.

E.A. : What made you want to get into cross country as the coach?

Mr. S : I had actively run in high school, doing like 5k’s, and 10k’s, and I still actively run now. Since I enjoyed running cross country in high school, and I always wanted to coach cross country, when I found the opportunity to coach cross country I took it.

E.A. : What do you dislike/like about cross country?

Mr. S : What I like about cross country is the meets. I love the meets a lot, but what I dislike about cross country is when, trying to find a way to practice around the difficult weather. Just like the heat, and also the air quality.

E.A. : What types of foods are your favorite?

Mr. Schoenberg: French fries. Anything that contains potatoes are my favorite.

E.A. : What are your favorite TV shows/movies to watch?

Mr. S : I like to watch anything that is comedy, like Arrested Development, or The Office. I'm also into those serious dramas, just like the show on Apple TV called Foundation.

E.A. : What are your favorite hobbies?

Mr. S : My favorite hobby is obviously, music and being a musician, especially when I get to play the instruments, and write music. My other ones would be obviously running, and after that it would be tennis.

E.A. : What are your favorite sports?

Mr. S : My number one favorite sport would be basketball, and then in no particular order, I also like tennis, football, and soccer.
